Osvaldo Fresedo's orchestra was known for catering to the upper crust of Buenos Aires. His style evolved over the years from strong rhythms slightly dominating the dreamy melodic parts as in "Mariposita" or "Tigre Viejo" to a smoother style where the melody, often carried by main singer Roberto Ray's buttersmooth voice, came to the foreground. Fresedo was the mentor of Carlos Di Sarli, but his orchestra undoubtedly deserves its place among the greatest of all time on its own merits.
